If you were looking for a great ziplining experience, guess what, you just landed at the right spot. We had never done ziplining before, and ziplining in La Fortuna is considered one of the best around the world so there was no way we would have missed on this experience.
We booked our tour with Sky Adventures and there couldn’t have been a better choice. Sky Adventures offers a 500 acre property that is full of the natural bounty of a tropical rainforest.
To be honest, we were scared to begin with when we saw people swoosh down the zip line but then we thought it’s just a matter of 30 seconds… we were so wrong and as you read though this you will know why. The sky tram took us to the top of the mountain; a very scenic ride where you will appreciate the beautiful views all around. The first zip line was less than 50 meters just for practice for newbies like us. The instructions were good but not close to what you would encounter so we’ll try our best to share some tips for you here. Now it was time for the real deal; the first zip line, and it was for sure scary to see where you were headed. We took a leap of faith and zipped straight down, it was a fun experience but when we landed we looked around to see where to exit but to our surprise there was no exit anywhere. We asked the instructor where the exit was and he said this was just the 2nd of 7 zip lines to get to the bottom… oh boy! The next few zip lines were a breeze after the first one. Just remember to place your hand correctly on the handle and not too close to the center or else while stopping you may have a few bruises on your fingers. Also, try practicing how to brake well as that is the hardest part. The second to last zip line was the most exciting, fastest and at times the scariest one but we made it through all of them. It was one of the best experiences we have ever had and it is not to miss, for sure. We also did the sky walk which is about a 3 mile hike through the rain forest where you get to cross a couple of really long hanging bridges too. The hike is not strenuous at all as your tour guide will make plenty of stops along the way. During the hike you also get to go up and close to the waterfall which is a nice spot to take some pictures.
