If you happen to be in Manuel Antonio and are looking for an adventurous off roading experience, then an ATV tour with ATV Fourtrax might be the thing for you.
Don’t worry if you have never ridden an ATV before as they will explain you all the techniques and dos and don'ts, and also give you ample of practice time before the actual experience starts. We did a lot of research before booking our tour and finally narrowed down to ATV Fourtrax at Quepos. This off-road ATV tour is a 4 hour tour. They can pick you up right from your hotel or Airbnb and then take you to their office in Quepos where you will complete some quick formalities. Their bus will take you to the ATV site which is about a 30 min drive. There are enough bathrooms, changing rooms and lockers at the ATV site. Once at the site, you will gear up which includes a stinky helmet (be prepared and trust us it stinks like hell so bring some spray sanitizer). Then you will be provided with instructions on how to ride the ATV followed by a 15 min practice ride with your instructor. Once everyone has had a good practice session, you will head to a real off-roading experience; we won’t spill the beans here so that you can have some excitement but we will tell you that be prepared to get muddy and dirty.
About an hour into off-roading, your guide will take you to a site where you will get to take a quick break, buy some snacks and then head over for a short hike to a breathtaking waterfall. You can swim and relax for about 15 to 20 mins followed by a nice pineapple and cookie treat provided by the tour guide; one of the best pineapples we have ever had in our life. Then you will hike back to your ATV and off-road back to the ATV site where you will be served the famous Costa Rican Typical Meal (one of our favorites). Finally the bus will drop you back to your hotel or Airbnb.
The ATV Fourtra offers 3 tours daily and we would highly recommend this day trip to the adventurous bunch.
