On our way back to Zagreb from the enchanting Bled Lake, we decided to make a pit stop in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. Just an hour’s drive from Bled, Ljubljana offers a delightful mix of history, culture, and charming streets.
Our first destination in Ljubljana was Prešeren Park,
located at the heart of the city. Conveniently, we found parking nearby and
began our stroll through the park and Congress Square. The area is lively and
welcoming, with picturesque pathways and plenty of green space.
From the park, we made our way to the iconic Three Bridges,
a unique architectural feature that offers stunning views of the Ljubljana
River. The cobblestone streets surrounding the bridges are lined with charming
cafes, bars, eateries, and shops, providing a perfect spot to relax and soak in
the local atmosphere. As we looked up, the Ljubljana Castle perched on the hill
provided a majestic backdrop.
We took our time exploring the vibrant streets, enjoying the
blend of historical architecture and modern amenities. The area around the
Three Bridges is particularly beautiful, with plenty of options for dining and
shopping. For those interested, there’s also a canal boat tour that offers a
unique perspective of the city.
With a long and action-packed day planned for our visit to
Plitvice National Park, we reluctantly left Ljubljana and headed back to
Zagreb. We arrived in time for an early dinner and some much-needed rest, ready
to continue our adventures the next day.
Ljubljana, though small, is packed with charm and beauty.
Whether you're enjoying a leisurely stroll through its parks and squares,
exploring the historic bridges, or savoring local cuisine, the city offers a
perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. If you’re traveling between Zagreb
and Bled, a stop in Ljubljana is highly recommended for a taste of Slovenia’s
vibrant capital.
